Movie Review: Hop

This fun filled Easter movie will get you in the spirit of things!

I enjoyed this movie along with two of my grandsons (ages 7 & 8) who loved it, when we left we were dancing and singing “I want candy… bump de bump de bump, de bump bump…”

Hop is a great family, feel good show. Is it predictable… sure is… does it make you laugh and root for the good guys? Sure does!

The movie tells us about two guys, one is thirty year old Fred O’Hare, who moved back home with his parents a year ago after losing his job. The family stages an intervention to encourage him to find work and get back out there. The other “guy” is E.B. the son of the Easter Bunny, who is being asked to step up to the plate and take over the family business, but would rather join a rock band as a drummer and leaves Easter Island to pursue his dreams.

Fred’s sister sets him up with a job interview at a video game company and lets him house sit her boss’s Hollywood mansion, which is where Fred meets E.B. and the fun begins! E.B. is charming and reckless, forcing Fred to become the responsible one who tries to keep everything together. Trouble ensues as the Easter Bunny sends in armed guards to retrieve his wayward son. E.B. returns to Easter Island to discover that his father’s right hand man (‘er, chick) is attempting to take over Easter.

I would recommend this movie to kids of all ages, while there is a small amount of violence and sit on the edge of your seat excitement, no need to worry; even the little kids can sense that all will turn out right in the end. It’s young, it’s fun… and fun filled.

Will E.B. save his father? Will Fred get a job? Will I ever get that song out of my head?

“I want candy… bump de bump de bump, de bump bump…”
